Protecting Families. One Home at a Time.
For families carrying more than anyone should, we provide free radon testing and mitigation so home can feel like a place to breathe again.
What's Radon?
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas released from the breakdown of uranium in soil and rock. It moves upward through the ground and can enter homes through cracks, sump pits, plumbing penetrations, and other openings in the foundation. Because radon is colourless, odourless, and invisible, the only way to know your levels is through proper testing.
Long‑term exposure to elevated radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non‑smokers, which is why understanding and managing radon is a critical part of maintaining a healthy home.

How It All Started
We are a Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting families and communities from the dangers of radon exposure — starting here in Alberta and expanding our impact across Canada and beyond. Our mission is simple: increase awareness, expand access to testing, and empower people with the knowledge and tools they need to create safer indoor environments.
Through education, community programs, and partnerships with industry experts, we work to ensure that every household understands the risks of radon and the steps required to reduce them. We believe prevention starts with awareness — and that every home, in every community, deserves clean, healthy air.
The Radon Project began as a community‑driven effort to raise awareness about the hidden risks of radon and to make reliable information accessible to every homeowner. What started as a small initiative to help friends and neighbors understand their indoor air quality quickly grew into a broader mission: empower families with accurate testing, clear guidance, and science‑based solutions so they can make informed decisions about their health.
As our work expanded, so did our vision. Today, The Radon Project is committed not only to supporting Albertans and Canadians, but also to contributing to global radon awareness — especially in developing regions where testing, education, and resources are limited. Our belief remains the same: radon education should be simple, trustworthy, and grounded in real data — and every home deserves the chance to be a safe one.
Success Stories
Over the years, we’ve helped countless homeowners and families breathe easier—literally and figuratively. From uncovering hidden risks to restoring peace of mind, our work has made homes safer, healthier, and more resilient. Every successful project represents a family protected, a worry lifted, and a community made stronger through informed action and trusted support.

When people understand radon, they take action — and that’s how we protect more families, one home at a time.
Our Trusted Partners

Get Involved
Every action you take helps us test more homes, support more families, and save more lives.
01
Donate Leftover Materials
Companies and contractors can donate unused or leftover radon mitigation parts — even short pieces of piping from past jobs that would otherwise end up in the garbage or scrap bin. We give these components a second life by using them in homes that need financial support, helping build life‑saving radon mitigation systems.
02
Support a Family in Need
Individuals and businesses can contribute directly to our testing and mitigation assistance fund. Every donation helps a household access clean, healthy air when they otherwise couldn’t afford it.
03
Share Our Mission in Your Community
Raising awareness is one of the most powerful forms of support. Sharing our resources, talking about radon with friends and neighbours, or posting on social media helps more families learn about the risks and take action.
04
Volunteer Your Time or Skills
From community events to test‑kit distribution to administrative support, volunteers help us reach more people. Whether someone has an hour a month or a specialized skill, it makes a real difference.
05
Partner With Us as a Business or Organization
Local businesses, municipalities, schools, and community groups can collaborate with us on awareness campaigns, testing initiatives, or sponsorships. Partnerships amplify our reach and strengthen community health.
